To north on west aspect upper slopes are extensive red pine forests. Cliff and rock pavement supports several rare plants. Fantastic vegetation in remote setting.;High elevation ridgeline on sandstone formation. Gently sloping dip slope back from steep cliff/ledge edge on opposite aspect. Commuinty is a deciduous forest strongly dominated by low growing red oak. Subcanopy trees are mostly shade tolerant species (birch, maple) but there are abundant oak seedlings from last years bumper acorn crop. There is high cover in herb layer dominated by hay scented fern, mountain oatgrass, and mountain aster. High lichen cover on tree trunks.
